Specialization

  • Residential Treatment
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy (also called CBT) is helping people to understand the thoughts and emotions that underlie their addiction with the goal of learning new, healthier and more productive ways to understand and express themselves.
  • Aftercare Support
Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.
  • Dual Diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment
These two terms describe a person who is not only addicted to drugs or alcohol, but also has a mental or emotional illness, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Facilities that treat patients with dual-diagnosis or co-occurring disorders provide psychiatric treatment in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.

Please do not send your loved one here! My son was not allowed to call me at all, even though he repeatedly asked. There is no psychiatrist there or nurses, which I was told there would be before I sent my son and one of the reasons I chose this place. The place they stay at is nothing like what their website shows... it is in the ghetto. Worst of all, they stole my money! They said insurance told them I owed 4000 dollars, when, in reality, insurance told me after i paid them that i was only responsible for 1000 (they blatantly stole 3000 dollars from me!!!) and even had the nerve to send a bill after this money was paid for yet another 400 dollars. When I have tried numerous times to call, I am told by what sounds like a young guy that he doesn't even think there is a billing department there, and I can't leave a message because he doesn't know anyone to give the message to. My insurance company has also tried to call, but they will not even answer the phone. They also sent my son to another recovery place in the middle of the night without even telling me, which he ran from after 2 hours because the owner told him he slapped another client because he felt like it. Scare tactics do nothing for someone in recovery and is actually abuse! I will do everything in my power to report Recovery by the Sea to the proper authorities and ensure they do not steal anyone else's money!

My wife was placed in this dump of a recovery center that was more of a halfway house/prison compound than an actual recovery center. It is located in the middle of the Ghetto in Stuart...nowhere near the Sea. Not only were the conditions deplorable, but there was zero actual treatment given. Meds were handed out of what looked like a toolbox in a shed out back. “Treatment” consisted of going to the beach, watching bootlegged movies, and going to church on the weekend. Public facilities were used for their activities and she was never seen by a physician or a psychiatrist. After asking multiple times for outpatient therapy, she was blown off and told she had to stay in in-patient treatment there. After being denied for a week, she left allegedly AMA (which is quite ridiculous considering she was never seen by a physician). She was also denied access to call me unless someone was in the room with her. She finally spoke with someone in charge and she told my wife that she would be dropped off at a public location which they chose to be a Walgreens located on Indian Street and US1. She was left there without her phone, identification, or money...which they claimed was for her own protection. She was dumped there with her suitcase and pillow before I could pick her up. She did finally get her confiscated personal belongings back after 72 hours. Beware because she had been in detox treatment for 2 weeks prior at a different location called Coastal, and was transferred to this hell hole without any notification or approval by me. Not only was this so called treatment center not approved by me, but I also only received one phone call while she was there. Someone called me to collect money for the deductible but we never discussed her treatment. It was only when I called insisting on her release to outpatient that I spoke to someone about her treatment. This is a classic bait and switch that smacks of an insurance scam scheme. Don’t be fooled!

The treatment received at this facility was awesome, my sister has one on one specialized care and was well educated on her addiction in the clinical and mental aspects of how it affects her emotionally in her wanting to use. The staff is very well versed in handling not just the clinical side of treatment but also relating and comforting the patients on a day to day basis offering support.

They took such good care of my son. The counselors and case managers were competent and professional, but were still able to connect with him. The best part was that he seemed to be having so much fun again. We have our son back! The life and recovery skills taught at this facility should be available to anyone regardless of addiction. My son went a boy and came home a man. The biggest weakness was that when it came time to leave, he wanted to stay. They were good about explaining the process though and he has done very well since.
